  • Videos of Meeting Miranda

This video was made about an hour after Miranda made her rather quick entrance into the world. She was so alert and seemed to notice everything!

Here are some videos of the kids with Baby Miranda.  They woke in the morning to find a new baby in Mama's arms. It was interesting to see each of their reactions!

Emily got to hold her first.  After months of her asking, "Want hold Baby!" we could finally say yes!

Clara held Miranda next. She seemed to be in awe with how little everything was about her new sister.

    * This is not working for me to post comments with the appropriate video clip; they are in jumbled order! And I think it has a few posted multiple times - there should be just 1 of Clara, while there are 2 different clips of Emily. They should be easy to tell who is in each one. :) *

Then David held her, too.  He has decided he should call her Rosie for short. I have no idea how he came up with that one, but considering that it is a cute nickname, we suppose that's ok.

We chose the name Miranda because Aaron and I both like it, and  Jeanne because it is my Grandma King's first name. Both names put together mean "miraculous gift of God".

  • Two April Birthdays...So Far!

    DSC00054

We just celebrated both Emily and Clara's birthdays.  The video of cake time is uploaded under videos. It is hard to believe they are 4 and 2 already!  Aaron's birthday is next week.

Clara is learning a lot of letters and numbers, and likes to write her name herself.  I don't even have to spell it for her anymore. She spends most of her time pretending to be a puppy. Emily calls her "Doggy" and pets her head.

Emily is growing up so much, too. She says just about any word she hears, and can tell us much of what she is thinking, a lot apparently! Lately, she has been asking me,"Want hold Baby? P'ease?" while she holds her hands out to my tummy. The waiting is getting long for them, I'm sure. I must say, I'm starting to feel like Emily as well!Just a few weeks left! (Due date May 7th.)

David had fun getting ready for the girls' birthdays, too. He accompanied me shopping for their presents.  His first suggestion was new cars and trucks; with some help, he finally settled on getting them "girlish" things, as he calls them.

Aaron has been busy laying hardwood flooring in our dining/living room area.  So glad to not have carpet under the table where toddlers eat! He might have finished Saturday if the supply of nails had not run out; he'll probably finish up tonight or tomorrow.

We've been enjoying this azalea Aaron got me for my birthday in January.  It is just starting its second blooming, with this blossom coming first. It measures more than 4 inches across; the flowers it had when he got it were less than a third that big!

Be sure to find the videos on here of the waterfall near where we live (about 10 miles from our house.)It is flowing at pretty high level from spring rains and snowmelt right now, and a spectacular display! It is told that Oregon Trail pioneers would hike several miles out of their way to see it, since they could hear the roar of the water and see the mist rising out of the canyon. Aaron took this picture and the videos this Sunday.  Shoshone Falls is called "Niagra of the West" and yet falls 50 feet longer than Niagra Falls!

  • Accomplishing Humble Tasks

Helen Keller once said, "I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble."

    Art and Literature
I was glad to come across this quote today, the first day of reinstating the Duckstein Family Homeschool. Day by day, a mother must accomplish the humble tasks, knowing that her children have the potential of becoming her great and noble accomplishments.

    Bedtime Story

I have been impressed for some time now with my need for establishing a daily schedule.  Not that it should become all-important, but to help us acquire more order to our days and hopefully creating more time for the things that we should be getting done day by day.  I am encouraged today that we have had some school time, such that it is with students age 5, 3 and 1!  It seems that we've had fewer disciplinary issues with our more orderly day as well.

We also had time for just enjoying each other more, playing duck-duck-goose, story time and play-doh, besides lunchtime.  And it's now just 3:30pm!

    Planting More Than Flowers

Maybe by Springtime we'll be into the habit enough to enjoy a little gardening together, like this mother is.

And we'll have the joy of welcoming the next little Duck to our nest (May 7th.)

    Autumn Fun

We played in the leaves last Saturday, and our landlord/neighbor took these pictures with her digital camera for us. Nice be able to get them on here while it is still a current event!

We all had so much fun ~ you should have heard all the laughter!
